Most Boring Entry Ever (stupid dr's)
Lately, I've been in a very communicative mood. I have many ideas to express, and surprisingly, the logic to back them up, and form them into buildings with walls, windows, and foundations.
I am also very ill. And the retreat this weekend (which, sadly enough, disintegrate into a large Mark-study and rummy-fest - I am the Rummy Queen!) I seem to have picked up some kind of throat-bacterium, or something. Until today I would have sworn it was strep, but a very incompetent Dr. assured me otherwise.
So this is what happened:
I walk into the dr's office. Sit down. He asked me what is wrong. I gasp/squeak out that I think I have strep, many friends/university students do, and that I have been running a fever for a few days. He does not touch my visibly swollen glands, take my temperature, or do anything. He looks in my mouth and says "It is very red and sore, but it does not look like strep". I mention the last time I had strep (last year) I had no spots. He proceeds NOT to do the five minute swab-culture test, and writes me a 'scrip for antibiotics. Yay. Random medications, that, if wrong, could strengthen the bacteria having parties in my throat! I was out in three minutes.
HOWEVER, someone I know just recovered from a nasty throat infection. That someone would not be contagious when I was around them. HOWEVER, others also attended said retreat who were around them when contagious, and were feeling yucky the day I left. Two days before me. Current working theory? I contracted said ( possibly lethal :( well..) bacterium three ways from source.
This morning, I slept in until 8:04. That's right, 8:04. I needed to be on the 8:20 bus to be at least REMOTLEY on time for my class. So I SHOWERED, DRESSED (albeit, in a hoody and baggy fat jeans w/o socks) and got myself to the bus stop just as the bus came. The only reason I cared so much is because it was group project day: and I couldn't imagine disappointing all the girls who ardently insisted we be there to work on our group essay. Well, yeah. Me and ONE OTHER GIRL showed up. Thank you first years. I mean, not that there is anything wrong with walking around in the snow without socks when you have a fever, and now our project may or may not get done, but hey, there was only 8 hours until my next class! I went home, ate oatmeal, and got books so I can work on my massive "readings-I have-shirked" list.
I'm so grumpy today :( Actually, not really, I'm just.. sick.
Things that made me happy today:
-I actually DID some readings
-I got an A- on a 10 percent test
-My cucumber salad I had for dinner
-That it is already Thursday and the weekend, for once, looks relaxing - nothing insane.
I am thinking of volunteering at the Salvation Army over reading break. I want to do something, because I know there are days when I have time. I just don’t know what.
