Flu Shot and COLD
Somewhere in the last four days, the cold has gotten into me, and I can’t escape it. Living in a basement in -35 weather is fun. I get to feel places in my bones that I didn’t know I had. I have hot, long showers trying to steam up the bathroom, but it is so cold, there is no steam when I get out. Just… cold bathroom. And fleece pants.
Outline for Russian essay is done. Russian History essay. No way am I proficient in writing in Russian. Now to research, write, and work hard.
I got my flu shot yesterday, so that I can be a little bit protected when I go to Urbana. 36,000 students or something like that. I never get sick, but it was only 20.00 and if it can ward off my possible death, well, it’s worth it. Right now, though, I’m thinking of all the coffee 20.00 could have bought. (Or food. I need groceries SO BADLY but it’s toooo cold to go shopping. I’m living off microwave popcorn, mandarin oranges, and ryvita…)
Honestly, though, I’m not sure how I feel about this. Injected a dead virus that was grown in a chicken egg. That’s pretty nasty. I don’t eat eggs to begin with. ALSO, I’m pretty sure this helps create super-bugs, resistant to anti-biotic, shots, and all that medical jazz. In the end, the benefits probably outweigh the negative. It just seems so invasive. I guess I’m just bitter that I’m one of the few who woke up feeling ill the next day!
If our children live in a world that is ripe with medical pandemics, blame it on me. I’ll have froze to death by then!
